The 20th Edition

ETRIA World Conference TRIZ Future 2020

“Systematic Complex Problem Solving in the Age of Digitalization and Open Innovation”

Overview

The ETRIA World Conference “TRIZ Future” 2020 will take place in the university city Cluj-Napoca (located in Romania, in the hearth of Transylvania land), during 14-16 October 2020. The Conference is organized by The European TRIZ Association (ETRIA) together with Cluj IT Cluster (www.clujit.ro) and five partner universities (Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (www.utcluj.ro), University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca (www.usamvcluj.ro), Babes-Bolyai University (www.ubbcluj.ro), University of Medicine and Farmacy “Iuliu Hatieganu” (www.umfcluj.ro) and University of Fine Arts and Design from Cluj-Napoca (www.uad.ro). The conference is sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP).

The 20th edition of ETRIA World Conference “TRIZ Future” invites original papers and best practices that combine systematic invention generation, design and creative thinking, digital technologies and open innovation frameworks to solve complex problems in any field of human activity.

The Conference aims at linking industrial companies, research centers, educational organizations and individuals to share their experience on systematic innovation and promote TRIZ-based tools worldwide. It will provide an international forum for exchanging new ideas on knowledge-based innovation, presenting recent achievements in this area and enabling further advances and collaboration also between the academic and industrial communities.

Paper
submission

We welcome equally scientific and best practice papers. Thus, both researchers and practitioners are encouraged to submit original contributions to TRIZ Future 2020 conference (note: TRIZ is the acronym for Theory of Inventive Problem Solving).

Scientific papers deal with fundamental and applied research in systematic innovation, inventive problemsolving tools and methodologies, new theories and developments in approaching the resolution of complex problems we are facing in any field of activity. The length of a scientific paper will be between 8 and 12 pages for publication in the conference proceedings. Scientific papers will be indexed in SCOPUS and ISI Web of Science.

Practitioner papers deal with exemplification of TRIZrelated tools application in real life projects. The length of a practitioner paper will be between 4 and 6 pages for publication in the conference proceedings

Publication
of papers

Proceedings of the conference will be published in cooperation with an international publishing house (e.g. Springer) and indexed in SCOPUS. For the scientific papers we will have the alternative to publish in journals indexed in ISI Web of Science. Details about these aspects will be provided in the second call for paper. In this respect, abstracts and the final manuscripts should adhere to the conference templates.

Main
topics

At the 20th edition of TRIZ Future conference we would like to structure contributions on several clusters. In this respect, we invite people to apply for the position of track coordinator.

A track consists of at least 4-5 papers in a specific area (e.g. eco-inventive problem solving; systematic innovation in software engineering; integration of TRIZ in open innovation, AI in systematic innovation, etc.). Track coordinators can propose names of their tracks and must invite at least 4-5 contributors in relation with the subject of the track. Those who are interested to approach this role are invited to contact the conference organizers not later than February 28, 2020 (see the section “Contact Information”). For their contribution to the success of the conference, track coordinators will benefit of a registration fee discount.

Invitation for dedicated tracks:

  • artificial intelligence and systematic innovation
  • ecological issues and systematic innovation
  • TRIZ and related tools in design thinking and open innovation
  • knowledge-based innovation
  • digitalization in systematic innovation
  • science of inventive problem solving, systematic invention and conflict resolution
  • advanced tools for complex problem solving
  • novel approaches in patent valuation, technology transfer and intellectual property management
  • TRIZ for X: application of TRIZ and related systematic innovation tools and methodologies in the X-field (e.g. robotics and, smart connected products, telecommunications, civil engineering, electro-mechanics, electronics, medicine and pharmacy, biotechnology, software, renewable energy, mobility and transportation, economics, strategy, politics, business and entrepreneurship, organizational processes, administration, etc.)
  • TRIZ for science and fundamental research (e.g. physics, chemistry, other natural sciences) to tackle breakthrough innovations
  • TRIZ and disruptive innovation
  • Other areas where systematic innovation is present and were not explicitly mentioned
